Morocco Travel Essay Contest
Did your Moroccan visit evoke some interesting thoughts, ideas and comments that you would like to share with the world.
We want to read about your Moroccan trip Experience!
Enter the Summer 2010 Morocco Travel Essay Contest organized by HeyMorocco.com
Eligibility:
- The writing must be the original work of the entrant.
- Limit 1 submission per entrant.
- Each entry must have a title
- Length requirement: Min word count: 750 words
- Entry cannot be submitted to any other website, contest, or print media of any form
Criteria:
- Submissions can be a travel essay or journal entry
- Essay topics are: Morocco travel, art or culture
- Language: English or French
- All entries become the property of the HEYMorocco.com.
- Writing should be submitted to info@heymorocco.com, please include "Moroccan Essay" in subject line.
- Entries must be received by Tuesday, August 31,2010 at 12:00 pm (Eastern Time).
Prizes:
Three winners will be chosen for first, second and third place
1. First place: $125
2. Second place: $75
3. Third place: $50
The top entries will be displayed on HeyMorocco.com website.
All payment will be paid via paypal.

Contest is open to everyone including high school students. Yes, all entries will be published at beginning of September.

Also, if you say journal entry, does that mean it can be in first person, like you telling about your experience?

People are surprised by my willingness to travel alone.
Maybe it is selfish, but to me, a vacation is about experiencing things for yourself, enlivening your senses and becoming like a child again, full of wonder.
Safety is a very critical issue for women, when traveling, but I found Morocco not only to be warm and inviting, but full of wonder.
Stepping into Djemaa el-Fna was like stepping into a fairly tale book where water sellers mixed with potion sellers and clothing makers. I found the inner child in me, pulling at my own sleeve, yelling "look! look!"
Marrakesh’s markets flow street after street, enlivening the senses with sound, smells and taste. Your hands leave your body, touching fabrics and metals while the people smile and greet you as if you were family.
Bahja means joyous and that is what you become as you continue your way into modern Morrocco where five star dining, shops and lodgings are your for the taking.
You can find yourself sitting on a beautiful wooden stool in a room lit by candlelight, with a crisp white napkin in your lap.
For a dish, you may have a wonderful steak or something more local like "pidgeon pie."
Not to worry, it will melt in your mouth and mix in your system with the wonderful wines of Africa and the savory breads.
Morocco is for those of us who have wanderlust and who want more out of life. As you leave, there is a sense of thankfulness as your heart has been filled and your soul renewed.
